CSIO has created a Terminology Standard of insurance and technical terms for use by the P&C industry. It contains thousands of terms and includes an English to French glossary.

The Terminology Standard will allow the Canadian P&C industry to create forms, computer screens and documentation which are used in a more consistent manner across the industry. This improved consistency will result in a reduction of confusion brought on by past differences in terminology use by industry partners. It will also make the development of new forms, screens and documentation more efficient for everyone. All industry partners in the broker based P&C industry will benefit from this new Terminology Standard.

You can access the database in the following 2 ways:

1. Scrolling Alphabetically: allows the User to scroll down and view a central listing of English & French terms in alphabetical order.
2. Glossary Search: allows the User to enter a specific term in either English or French, to view the alternative language term equivalent.
