EDI Commercial Lines Standards

CSIO developed its initial set of Commercial Lines Standards using the
UN/EDIFACT Syntax/structure.
Support
for Commercial Lines Standards has now moved from EDI to XML.
WHAT IS UN/EDIFACT or
UN/CEFACT?
UN/EDIFACT (United Nations Electronic Data Interchange for
Administration, Commerce and Transport) provides messages for handling EDI data
exchange between parties that are adopted by the United Nations and are being
supported by both governments and private sector groups, throughout the world in
order to facilitate global trade. CSIO using EDIFACT Commercial Standards
published
Standards for 12 lines/sub-lines of business. Today
Standards
work is proceeding through a newly
restructured UN/CEFACT standards organization. Trade groups include: Insurance,
customs, materials management, finance, products, statistics, engineering,
travel & tourism, healthcare, education, transportation, accounting,
environment and purchasing. UN/CEFACT is committed to core component
(reusability) identification and development via business models with emphasis
on syntax neutral elements and messages. In October 2005 the first publication
of the UN/CEFACT Insurance core components
developed in cooperation with ACORD, CSIO and eEG7. Refer to the press
announcement below.
