This is a high level
overview of the various meetings that CSIO holds during the year, the content
and the type of person that should attend. ******* National
Standards Workgroup – Are held 3 times a year. At least one is held in Montreal. Agenda and minutes are provided
for all meetings for all participants and CSIO members. Content:
EDI and XML Standards are discussed – they are derived from the maintenance requests (MRs and XMRs) received from our members.
MRs are for Personal Lines EDI and XMRs pertain to XML maintenance requests for either commercial and personal lines including claims.
We also give updates on forms, implementation issues, projects, surveys, industry announcement and recommendations passed along via our Special Workgroups. Contact
or CSIO meeting Chair: Suggested
Attendee: Usually your assigned Standards representative – one who has
experience with CSIO Standards (EDI or XML) and is very comfortable with the
business requirements of their organization. Special
(Standards) Workgroup – set up on an
“as required basis” generally 2-4 per year. Content:
For EDI (Personal Lines) or XML (Commercial or Personal Lines) and Forms.
The meetings are used to address a specific Standards issue or series of
issues or can involve Forms development. Special Workgroups are usually called
at the request of the National Standards Workgroup or by CSIO in order to deal
with maintenance requests/focused topics that are too detailed to handle at the
National Standards Workgroup (often due to time constraints and/or complexity of
issue). Contact
or CSIO meeting Chair: It
varies depending on the area of expertise (e.g. Forms, EDI, XML, etc.)
but in all cases, CSIO staff will announce the Workgroup with an invitation and
an agenda for all meetings and deliver a set of minutes post-meeting. Suggested Attendee: Based on agenda and invitation notification. For example, if it an EDI agenda item, then an EDI person should attend. e-Partners
Forums –EPOF (Open Forum) and EPVFs (Vendor Forums)
- twice a year as needed, held in either Toronto or Montreal as demanded by our members. Content:
These forums address broker, insurer and BMS/vendor standards
implementation concerns between trading partners.
The “Open Forum or EPOF” is for any issues common across all CSIO
trading partner lines. For example, CSIOnet or say the handling of a specific
data element group in data transmission. The
EPVFs (vendor Forums) on the other hand are closed door (by BMS/vendor) for each
of the main software solutions and currently are focused on EDI implementation
matters. Companies and the specific
BMS/vendors that they do business with are then able to discuss in private any
implementation issues. All issues
are documented through the PDR process (initially logged as Problem
Determination Reports]. PDRs can be
filed over the CSIO website by any CSIO stakeholder –insurer, BMS/vendor,
broker and can involve one or more trading partners. Contact or
CSIO Chair: Email Francine Davis fdavis@csio.com
or by phone at 416-360-1773 ext.2322 Suggested Attendee:
Someone who has some technical and business expertise (EDI) and has a working
knowledge of the Standards and is very familiar with BMS/vendor systems.
